The Illustrated Guide To A Ph.D

Thank you, Matt Might, from the Business Insider Australia.  You have given me a new perspective on my almost never-ending pursuit of a PhD.  I’ve been going at this thing for over 4 years now, and often times I wonder why?  Some would say to be an “expert” in your field.  Others will have me believe it gives me more self worth, or it increases my influence in the field to land a high profile teaching position at an esteemed Higher Ed institution.  Yes, yes, yes, and yes – however, I am glad these illustrations below give another perspective and humbles me even further.

It also reminds me that, God “chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong” 1 Corinthians 1:27 (NIV).  Nevertheless, as Uncle Ben (Spiderman’s uncle) would say, “With great power comes great responsibility”.
